DJ AKTIVE is a native of West Philadelphia who has dedicated a lot of time and energy studying and practicing to become a “turntabilist”. As long as he can remember, music has always been a major part of his life. At an early age, he began to take note of how much music meant to so many people and how adding it to any environment can change the entire atmosphere. He began to listen with that in mind. While listening to any song, he began to think of others that would complement the first in various ways. This almost scientific way of interpreting music and atmosphere helped him as he honed his skills in blending, beat juggling, and mixing songs. Add his UNBELIEVABLE scratching ability and you quickly see how he became DJ AKTIVE!

AKTIVE began spinning at neighborhood basement parties and parks before he even made it to high school! He became known for his showmanship and lightning quick hand speed, hence the moniker he carries today. Once he started to enter and WIN DJ competitions with both the city’s and the region’s finest, prominent Philadelphia radio stations began to reach out for his services. This led to him becoming a household name on the Philly party scene.

After rocking that scene, DJ AKTIVE began to tour with Def Soul recording artist, Musiq Soulchild. He brought his unique style and learned to blend with band members during live performances. He has since toured the world over with various artists and played nightclubs, parties, and events for some of the most diverse crowds. He is currently performing with soulful songstress, Marsha Ambrosius, Queen Latifah, JoJo, Melanie Fiona and TYGA.

The DJ has always been an important element in hip hop culture. With that in mind, DJ AKTIVE is ready to show the world his unique style of “turntabilism”. The mission is to reintroduce the world to the importance of skill behind the turntables. His show will undoubtedly leave an impression on all that experience his set. When ANY ONE sees his name on ANY bill, they will know they’re getting the opportunity to be a part of something special!

Competed in DMC Battles with top DJs from all over the world before winning the DMC’s East Coast Regionals in ’99 and The Kool Mix National DJ Competition in ‘00
Made guest appearances on Philadelphia Radio Stations (Power 99FM and 103.9FM)
Official DJ for Julius Erving Summer League Basketball in Philadelphia
Performed with the Beatnuts, Gang Starr, The Roots, Mobb Deep
Signed on as international tour DJ for Musiq Soulchild (Def Soul) which included shows with Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, and others

2001-2004

Featured DJ for:

- Sega Video Game Competition (’02 NBA All-Star weekend) hosted by Rasheed Wallace (Portland Trailblazers) and Jermaine Dupri (SoSo Def Records)
- Puff Daddy’s holiday party in NY (Union Square)
- Reebok Store grand opening hosted by Allen Iverson (Philadelphia 76ers)
- Tour of Japan with Musiq (Okinawa, Tokyo, and Atsugi)
- Became official tour DJ for Floetry, Skillz (formerly known as “Mad Skillz”), and Peedi Crack (Roc-afella Records)
- Patented the “Flair Click Skratch” (technique which results in a clicking of the fader bar between thumb and index finger)
- Featured DJ on Musiq’s album, SoulStar (title track)
- Became member of Skratch Makaniks DJ Crew (DJs Excel, Spinbad, Jay-Ski, Sat-One, Adam Bomb and Kwestion)
- Official DJ for Salem-sponsored, “Stir The Scenes” Tour featuring LL Cool J, A Tribe Called Quest, and hip-hop violinist Miri Ben-Ari

2005-2009

Signed deal with XM Radio to host “360 Mix Show” on Ch. 67 The City
